The procedure that follows gives the instructions on how to replace the filter elements of the air dryer.

A differential pressure indicator that is RED indicates that the filter element requires servicing.

Prepare the Machine

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Wait until the build chamber, build platform, and hot ends are at room temperature.
  4. Open the build chamber door.
  5. Push the E-stop button.
  6. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the front panel of the machine.
  7. Turn the main disconnect switch in the OFF (O) position.

Replace Air Filters

Wait until all machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Remove Left Side Panel

Remove the lower left side panel. Refer to Remove Lower Left Panel.

Replace Filters

This unit may be serviced without removing the unit from the compressed air line.

  1. Disconnect air supply from the back of the machine and depressurize all air lines.
  2. Push on the left side bowl assembly and turn counter clockwise to remove bowl/bowl guard assembly.
  3. Use a damp lint-free rag to remove contaminants found inside of bowl using a clean cloth.
  4. Inspect plastic bowl for damage and replace if necessary.
  5. Turn the filter element clockwise to remove it.

    Do not touch the exterior foam cover of the element. Use the plastic bag the element is shipped in to hold the element and install it into the body.

  6. Install a new filter element and O-ring seal.
    1. The left side filter is white in color.
    2. The right side filter is gray in color.
  7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 for the right side. Use the gray filter.

Install Left Side Panel

Install the lower left side panel. Refer to Install Lower Left Panel.

Test and Return to Service

  1. Connect the air supply in the inlet located at the back of the machine.
  2. Make sure that you remove all the tools from the machine enclosure.
  3. Close the build chamber door.
  4. Turn the main disconnect switch in the ON (1) position.
  5. Turn the power ON with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  6. Release the E-stop button.
  7. Home XYZ.
