Prepare the Machine

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Wait until the build chamber, build platform, and hot ends are at room temperature.
  4. Open the build chamber door.
  5. Push the E-stop button.
  6. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the front panel of the machine.
  7. Turn the main disconnect switch in the OFF (O) position.
  8. Press the cold plenum hood release button located on the right side of the machine.
  9. Open the cold plenum hood.

Replace X-Axis Belt

Wait until all machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Remove X-Axis Belt

Adjust X-Axis Belt Tension

  1. Use the 3 mm hex key to loosen the two fixation screws (1) on the left side tensioner.
  2. Use the 3 mm hex key to loosen the adjustment screw (2). Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise to decrease tension.
  3. Use the 3 mm hex key to loosen the two fixation screws on the right side X-axis belt clamp.
  4. Remove the X-axis belt.
  5. Discard the X-axis belt.

Install X-Axis Belt

The X-axis belt is 1152 mm long.

  1. Put the end of the new X-axis belt in position under the right side X-axis belt clamp.
    • The teeth of the belt should face up.
  2. Use the 3 mm hex key to tighten the two fixation screws on the right side X-axis belt clamp.
    • Make sure that the X-axis belt is tight in the X-axis belt clamp. X-Axis on Toolhead
  3. Put the free end of the X-axis belt in position on the toolhead:
    1. Over the first idler pulley;
    2. Under the X-axis motor drive pulley;
    3. Over the second idler pulley;
    4. Repeat for the adjacent toolhead.
  4. Install the free end of the X-axis belt under the left side tensioner found on the left side of the machine.
  5. Adjust the tension of the X-axis belt. Refer to Inspect XY-Axes Belt Tension.

Replace Y-Axis Belts

Wait until all machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Remove Y-Axis Belts

Decrease Y-Axis Belt Tension

  1. Remove the upper side panel.
    1. Refer to the Remove Body Panels: Upper Left Side page for the left side.
    2. Refer to the Remove Body Panels: Upper Right Side page for the right side.
  2. Use the 5 mm hex key to loosen the two fixation screws (1).
  3. Use the 5 mm hex key to loosen the adjustment screw (2). Turn the adjustment screw counterclockwise and decrease belt tension. Y-Axis Belt Clamp
  4. Locate the Y-axis belt clamp (3) at the end of the X-axis gantry.
  5. Use the 3 mm hex key to loosen the two Y-axis belt clamp screws (4).
  6. Remove the Y-axis belt.
  7. Discard the Y-axis belt.
  8. Repeat steps 1 to 7 for the other side of the machine.

Install Y-Axis Belts

The Y-axis belt is 1476 mm long.

  1. Insert the front end of the Y-axis belt under the belt clamp.
    • Make sure that the teeth of the belt are facing toward the side of the machine.
    • Insert the end of the belt as far as possible to maximize contact with the clamp.
  2. Use the 3 mm hex key to tighten the clamp screw.
  3. Put the free end of the Y-axis belt in position over the Y-axis linear rail:
    1. Around the Y-axis idler located at the front of the machine;
    2. Around the Y-axis motor pulley located at the back of the machine.
  4. Use the 3 mm hex key to loosen the clamp screw while holding the attached end in place.
  5. Insert the free end of the Y-axis belt under the belt clamp.
    • Insert the end of the belt as far as possible to maximize contact with the clamp.
  6. Use the 3 mm hex key to tighten the clamp screw.
  7. Adjust the tension of the Y-axis belt. Refer to Inspect XY-Axes Belt Tension.
  8. Install the upper side panel.
    1. Refer to the Install Body Panels: Upper Left Side page for the left side.
    2. Refer to the Install Body Panels: Upper Right Side page for the right side.
  9. Repeat steps 1 to 8 for the other side of the machine.

Test and Return to Service

  1. Close the cold plenum hood.
  2. Make sure that you remove all the tools from the machine enclosure.
  3. Close the build chamber door.
  4. Turn the main disconnect switch in the ON (1) position.
  5. Turn the power ON with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  6. Release the E-stop button.
  7. Home XYZ.
