Connectivity

Communications with the AON3D machine is done with the use of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or through a web browser on your Local Area Network (LAN).

Files can be uploaded through a modern browser and a network connection between a workstation and the AON3D machine or through a USB flash drive. The network can be air-gapped from the wide area network, and traffic to AON3D servers is not a requirement for use.

AON3D machines do not support legacy browsers. The web client uses modern browser functionality such as WebSockets and WebGL. AON3D recommends the most recent web browsers such as:

  • Microsoft® Edge
  • Google Chrome™
  • Mozilla Firefox™

The Hylo™ can connect to a LAN via WiFi or RJ45 Ethernet. Internet access will be required to:

  • Access certain AON3D features.
  • Access AON3D software updates.
  • AON3D technical support.

If restrictions exist which limit the AON3D machine to a network with internet access, reach out to our Customer Success team at help@aon3d.com to make arrangements to allow for regular software updates and the ability for us to provide technical support.

Slicing Software

The only official 3D slicing software endorsed by AON3D for the Hylo™ is PrusaSlicer.

The customer is free to use the 3D slicing software of their choice. However, AON3D cannot guarantee the print quality other than with the use of PrusaSlicer and we will be unable to assist with your overall success with the AON3D machine.

System Requirements from PrusaSlicer website.

Hardware Configuration

CPU: Many computations in PrusaSlicer are multi-threaded and will benefit from a processor with multiple cores and threads.
Memory: Minimum 4 GB RAM, recommended is 8 GB or more.
Graphics: Needs to support OpenGL version 2.0 and newer.

Operating Systems

Windows: 64-bit Windows 7 and newer. PrusaSlicer 2.4.2 is the last version with a 32-bit Windows build available.
OSX: 10.11 (El Capitan) and newer versions. OSX 10.12 (Sierra) and newer will be required for versions after 2.4.2.
Linux: most standard Linux distributions.
Chromebook: current version of Chrome OS with Debian 10.7 or newer.

Basis™

Basis™ is an additive manufacturing software that streamlines the file-to-part process.

An internet connection is required to use Basis™.

A connection between Basis™ is not necessary to operate the Hylo™ machine. However, the user will not be able to:

  • Send files to the machine through Basis™ interface.
  • Monitor in-process part quality
  • Store print data

System requirements

Operating System: Windows, macOS, Linux distributions
Web Browser: Firefox version 111 or later, Chrome version 113 or later, Edge version 113 or later
CPU: Minimum: A quad-core CPU running at a minimum speed of 2.5 GHz.
Recommended: A processor manufactured within the past 5-10 years should be sufficient for most users.
Memory: Minimum 8 GB RAM.
GPU: Preferred: A discrete GPU can significantly improve the Basis™ performance.
Alternatives: A high-performance integrated GPU (iGPU) can be used, but users may experience some performance degradation, particularly in graphics-intensive tasks. Apple M1, M2, or M3 processors are known to perform well with the application.
