Summary

The procedure that follows explains how to look for possible problems with the microswitches, and gives instructions on where to tighten the microswitches. Microswitches in good condition prevent:

  • Unwanted contact between the moving parts.
  • Inaccurate reference points.
  • Inconsistent print layers.

Prepare the Machine

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Move the Y-axis by 200 mm.
  4. Push the E-stop button.
  5. Wait until the build chamber, build plate and hot ends are at room temperature.

Microswitches Inspection

Allow all machine components to reach room temperature prior to proceeding further. Failure to allow components to cool down will result in thermal injury (burns) to personnel.

  1. On T1, make sure there is no damage on the X-axis microswitch (1). Right Tool Head MS
  2. Make sure that all the microswitch (1) fasteners are tight.
  3. If the microswitch is not tight, use the hex key or Phillips screwdriver to tighten the fasteners until the microswitch is tight.

    Do not tighten the microswitch fasteners too much. The X, Y, and Z-axes will collide and damage the machine components if microswitches are too tight.

  4. Do steps 1, 2, and 3 again with these components:
    1. T1 probe microswitch (2).
    2. Y-axis microswitch (3) of the right-side motion rail.
    3. Right-side Z-axis microswitch (4) of the base plate. Z-axis MS#1
  5. On T0, make sure there is no damage on the X-axis microswitch (5). Left Tool Head MS
  6. Make sure that all the microswitch fasteners are tight.
  7. If the microswitch is not tight, use the hex key or Phillips screwdriver to tighten the fasteners until the microswitch is tight.

    Do not tighten the microswitch fasteners too much. The X, Y, and Z-axes will collide and damage the machine components if microswitches are too tight.

  8. Do steps 5, 6, and 7 with these components:
    1. T0 probe microswitch (6).
    2. Y-axis microswitch (7) of the left-side motion rail.
    3. Left-side Z-axis microswitch (8) of the base plate. Z-axis MS#2

Test and Return to Service

  1. Release the E-stop button.
  2. Home XYZ.
