Remove the Microswitches

Illustration Example

  1. With the tape and the marker, tag the two wires (1) that connect to the microswitch (2).
  2. Disconnect the two wires from the microswitch. Illustration Example
  3. With the 5/64 in. hex key and the 1/4 in. wrench, remove the following components from the microswitch (2):
    • the two screws (3)
    • the four Teflon™ washers (5)
    • the two Teflon™ sleeve washers (6)
    • the two crush nuts (4).
  4. Discard the following components:
    • the two crush nuts
    • the two Teflon™ sleeve washers
    • the four Teflon™ washers.
  5. Remove the microswitch from the machine.
  6. If required, do steps 1 to 5 with the other Z-axis microswitch.

If the microswitch is replaced as a part of the preventive maintenance plan, it is required to replace the two Z-axis microswitches.

Install the Microswitches

  1. Put the microswitch (2) in position in the machine.

Make sure there are two Teflon™ washers on each side of the microswitch (total of four). The microswitch must not touch a solid surface directly. Failure to do so can damage the components.

Do not tighten the microswitch too much. The microswitch is fragile. Failure to do so can damage the components.

  2. With the 5/64 in. hex key and the 1/4 in. wrench, install:
    • the two screws (3)
    • the four Teflon™ washers (5)
    • the two Teflon™ sleeve washers (6)
    • the two crush nuts (4).
  3. Connect the two wires (1) to the microswitch (2).

Use the tags identified during the removal to connect the wires to the proper terminals on the microswitch.

  4. If required, do steps 1 to 3 with the other Z-axis microswitch.

Test and Return to Service

  1. Release the E-stop button.
  2. Home XYZ.
  3. Make sure that the microswitches operate correctly. Refer to the microswitches inspection.
