Summary

The procedure that follows explains how to fill the coolant reservoir with coolant. Correct coolant levels prevents:

  • Components that are too hot.
  • Component failures.
  • Inconsistent print quality.

Preparation

Koolance bottle and tube

  1. To assemble the rubber spout onto the coolant bottle, remove the cap from the coolant bottle.
  2. Remove the rubber spout and set aside.
  3. Remove the plastic center cap. Do not discard the center cap as it can be reused to reseal the coolant bottle.
  4. Put the rubber spout upright on the coolant bottle opening.
  5. Secure the rubber spout assembly onto the coolant bottle with the cap.
  6. Install the clear filler tube onto the rubber spout (AON-M2 application only).

    The installation of the clear filler tube is for the AON-M2 application only.

Prepare the Machine

  1. Push the E-stop button.
  2. Wait until the build chamber, build plate and cooling circuit are at room temperature.

AON-M2 2020 Coolant Level Fill

Allow all machine components to reach room temperature prior to proceeding further. Failure to allow components to cool down will result in thermal injury (burns) to personnel.

Do not mix different types of liquid coolant. Only use the recommended coolant. Failure to do this will damage to the cooling circuit.

  1. Make sure that the coolant level in the coolant reservoir (1) is approximately 2.5 cm (one inch) from the top. 2.5 cm
  2. If there is not sufficient coolant in the coolant reservoir (1), do steps 3 to 5.
  3. Use the large flathead screwdriver to remove the coolant reservoir cap (2). Coolant Reservoir Cap
  4. Insert the small funnel into the filler hole to add coolant into the coolant reservoir (1).
  5. Carefully add coolant until the coolant level is approximately 2.5 cm (one inch) from the top.
    1. If coolant overflows, clean with a clean lint-free rag.
  6. Use the large flathead screwdriver to install the coolant reservoir cap (2).

    Do not tighten the coolant reservoir cap (2) too much. Tighten only until coolant reservoir cap (2) is sealed. Failure to do this will damage to the cooling reservoir (1) and coolant reservoir cap (2).

AON3D now uses a different coolant solution (now blue in color) from the one originally shipped with the AON-M2. We advise to switch coolants when performing the recommended maintenance coolant flush every 12 months. A thorough coolant flush is necessary when switching coolant types. Refer to Drain & Replace Coolant.

  1. Make sure that the coolant reservoir (1) is full. Full Reservoir
  2. If there is not sufficient coolant in the coolant reservoir (1), do steps 3 to 5.
  3. Use the large flathead screwdriver to remove coolant reservoir plug (2). Show pouring coolant
  4. Carefully add coolant in the coolant reservoir (1) until full.
    1. If coolant overflows, clean with a clean lint-free rag.
  5. With the large flathead screwdriver, install the coolant reservoir plug (2).

    Do not tighten the coolant reservoir plug (2) too much. Tighten only until coolant reservoir plug (2) is sealed. Failure to do this will damage to the cooling reservoir (1) and coolant reservoir cap (2).

Test and Return to Service

  1. Release the E-stop button.
  2. Home XYZ.
  3. Make sure that there are no leaks on the outside of the machine while the cooling system operates.
