Summary

The procedure that follows gives instructions on how to clean the components that follow:

  • Coolant radiator
  • Three radiator fans
  • Four cooling fan grills.

Clean cooling components prevent:

  • Temperatures that are too hot in the cooling system.
  • Temperatures that are too hot in the machine components.
  • Clogged hot end assemblies.

Prepare the Machine

  1. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  2. Wait until the build chamber, build platform and hot ends are at room temperature.

Clean Radiator and Cooling Fans

Wait until all machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Do not use compressed air to clean the coolant radiator and/or cooling fans. The use of compressed air can cause damage to machine component(s).

Radiator and Fans Locations

  1. Use the vacuum cleaner to remove contaminants found on the four cooling fan grills (1), coolant radiator (2), and the three radiator fans (3).
  2. Use a damp lint-free rag to remove contaminants found on the four cooling fan grills (1), coolant radiator (2), and the three radiator fans (3).
  3. Make sure that the four cooling fan grills (1), coolant radiator (2), and the three radiator fans (3). are clean and do not have unwanted contaminants.

Test and Return to Service

  1. Turn the power ON with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  2. Make sure that the flow of air for all seven cooling fans is good.
  3. Heat the build chamber to 100°C (212°F).
  4. After 15 minutes, do the steps that follow:
    • Make sure that no unusual sounds come from the seven cooling fans.
    • Make sure there are no coolant leaks.
