Summary

The procedure that follows gives instructions on how to clean the components that follow:

  • The vacuum chuck
  • The vacuum chuck inlet filter
  • The vacuum chuck O-ring.

Estimated time: 15 minutes

Do not operate the AON3D machine in an area where the quality of air is not clean. Make sure that the work area is clean at all times. A clean work area will help increase the quality of air that is used to operate the vacuum circuit in the AON3D machine.

To help the build sheet(s) seal correctly, the vacuum chuck top surface and channels must be clean at all times.

Prepare the Machine

Make sure that there are no prints on the build surface. Remove print(s) before the procedure that follows is started. Failure to do so can cause a collision and cause damage to the machine component(s).

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Use the Graphical User Interface (GUI)/web browser to power OFF the vacuum pump.
  4. Open the build chamber door.
  5. Push the E-stop button.
  6. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the the machine.
    • For AON M2+ (CE) machines: Disconnect power to the machine from the local supply disconnecting device.
    • For AON M2+ (R-NZ) and AON M2+ machines: Disconnect the main power cord from the receptacle.
  7. Wait until the build chamber, build platform and hot ends are at room temperature.

Remove the Vacuum Chuck Inlet Filter

Wait until all the machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

  1. Remove the build sheet from the vacuum chuck. Refer to Install Build Sheet.
  2. Use the small flathead screwdriver to carefully remove the vacuum chuck inlet filter. Vacuum Chuck Inlet Filter

Clean the Vacuum Chuck and Vacuum Chuck Inlet Filter

Do not use compressed air to clean the vacuum chuck top surfaces and/or channels. The use of compressed air can cause damage to the vacuum circuit and/or machine component(s).

  1. Use the shop vacuum, and/or the soft bristle brush, to clean the components that follow:
    • The vacuum chuck top surface
    • The vacuum chuck channels
    • The vacuum chuck inlet filter bore
    • The vacuum chuck inlet filter.
  2. Use the isopropyl alcohol and lint-free rag(s) to clean solvents and/or unwanted materials from the vacuum chuck top surface.
  3. Let surfaces to dry for two minutes.
  4. Make sure that the vacuum chuck and vacuum chuck inlet filter are clean. Do step 1 to 3 as necessary.

Install the Vacuum Chuck Inlet Filter

  1. Carefully install the vacuum chuck inlet filter into the vacuum chuck center bore.
  2. Make sure that the vacuum chuck inlet filter is correctly installed in the vacuum chuck.

Clean the Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

  1. Remove the vacuum chuck O-ring that is found on the outer perimeter of the vacuum chuck. Refer to Replace Vacuum Chuck O-Ring.
  2. Inspect the vacuum chuck O-ring. Replace, if necessary. Refer to Replace Vacuum Chuck O-Ring.
  3. Use the isopropyl alcohol and lint-free rag(s) to clean the vacuum chuck o-ring.
  4. Let the O-ring and build platform dry for two minutes.
  5. Install the vacuum chuck o-ring onto the vacuum chuck outer perimeter. Refer to Replace Vacuum Chuck O-Ring.

Test and Return to Service
