Prepare the Machine

Make sure that there are no prints on the build surface. Remove print(s) before the procedure that follows is started. Failure to do so can cause a collision and cause damage to the machine component(s).

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Open the build chamber door.
  4. Push the E-stop button.
  5. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the the machine.
    • For AON M2+ (CE) machines: Disconnect power to the machine from the local supply disconnecting device.
    • For AON M2+ (R-NZ) and AON M2+ machines: Disconnect the main power cord from the receptacle.
  6. Wait until the build chamber, build platform and hot ends are at room temperature.

Remove the Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

Wait until all the machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Remove Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

  1. Remove the build sheet. Refer to Install Build Sheet.
  2. Use the non-ferrous parts pick to carefully remove the vacuum chuck o-ring (1).

Inspect the Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

  1. Inspect the vacuum chuck o-ring for rips, holes, and/or tears. Replace, if necessary.

Clean the Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

  1. Use the isopropyl alcohol and lint-free rag(s) to clean the vacuum chuck o-ring.
  2. Let the vacuum chuck o-ring dry for two minutes.
  3. Make sure that the vacuum chuck o-ring is clean.

Clean the Vacuum Chuck Outer Perimeter

Clean Vacuum Chuck Outer Perimeter

AON3D recommends that the vacuum chuck and inlet filter also be cleaned at this point in time. Refer to Clean Vacuum Chuck Components.

  1. Use the soft bristle wire brush to clean the vacuum chuck outer perimeter.
  2. Use the isopropyl alcohol and lint-free rag(s) to clean the vacuum chuck outer perimeter.
  3. Make sure that the vacuum chuck outer perimeter is clean.

Install the Vacuum Chuck O-Ring

Do not apply lubricants to the vacuum chuck o-ring and/or to the vacuum chuck outer perimeter. The lubricants can cause the build sheet to incorrectly seal on the vacuum chuck and/or cause damage to machine component(s).

AON3D recommends that the vacuum chuck o-ring first be installed at the two rear corner radii of the vacuum chuck outer perimeter. This will help the user better control the vacuum chuck o-ring as it is installed onto the vacuum chuck outer perimeter.

Install New Vacuum Chuck Seal

  1. Do the steps that follow to install the new vacuum chuck o-ring onto the vacuum chuck outer perimeter:
    1. Install the o-ring at the left rear corner radius. Use your hand to put pressure on the o-ring to make sure it does not move.
    2. Use your other hand to lightly pull on the o-ring, and install it onto the right rear corner radius.
    3. Release your hand from the o-ring that holds the o-ring in the left rear corner radius.
    4. Lightly pull and install the o-ring onto the left front corner radius.
    5. Lightly pull and install the o-ring at the right front corner radius.
    6. Make sure that the o-ring is correctly installed along the full vacuum chuck outer perimeter.
  2. Install the build sheet. Refer to Install Build Sheet.
    • Make sure that the build sheet seals correctly onto the vacuum chuck.

Test and Return to Service

  1. Make sure that you remove all the tools from the build chamber.
  2. Close the build chamber door.
    • For AON M2+ (CE) machines: Connect power to the machine from the local supply disconnecting device.
    • For AON M2+ (R-NZ) and AON M2+ machines: Connect the main power cord to the receptacle.
  3. Turn the power ON with the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  4. Release the E-stop button.
  5. Home XYZ.
  6. Clean the build chamber, if necessary. Refer to Clean Build Platform and Build Chamber.
