Prepare the Machine

Make sure that there are no prints on the build print surface. Remove print(s) before the procedure that follows is started. Failure to do so can cause a collision and cause damage to the machine component(s).

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Use the Graphical User Interface (GUI)/web browser to power OFF the vacuum pump.
  3. Turn the vacuum circuit power OFF at the ON/OFF switch found on the rear panel of the machine.
  4. Open the build chamber door.
  5. Push the E-stop button.
  6. Wait until the build chamber, build platform and hot ends are at room temperature.

Vacuum Filter Element

  • Location: The vacuum filter element is in the vacuum filter assembly, which is found on the rear panel of the machine. The vacuum filter assembly must be disassembled to get access to the vacuum filter element.
  • Function: The vacuum filter element collects unwanted materials to prevent loss of negative atmospheric pressure in the vacuum circuit.

Remove and Clean the Vacuum Filter Element

Vacuum Filter Element CC

  1. Turn the bottom vacuum filter cover clockwise. Set the bottom vacuum filter cover aside.
  2. Carefully pull on the the vacuum filter element to remove it from the vacuum filter housing.
  3. Use the soft bristle brush, and/or compressed air, to clean the components that follow:
    • The vacuum filter element
    • The vacuum filter cover.
  4. Use the isopropyl alcohol and lint-free rag(s) to clean the components that follow:
    • The vacuum filter element
    • The bottom vacuum filter cover
    • The vacuum filter housing.
  5. Make sure that all components are clean. Do steps 3 and 4 until the filter element is clean.
  6. Inspect the vacuum filter element for rips, holes, and/or tears. Replace, if necessary.

Install the Vacuum Filter Element

• Make sure that the vacuum filter element is correctly installed into the vacuum filter housing. Failure to do so can cause damage to the vacuum circuit and make the machine component(s) operate too hot.
• Make sure that the o-ring is installed in the bottom vacuum filter cover. Failure to do so can cause damages to the vacuum circuit and make the machine component(s) operate too hot.

  1. Make sure that the o-ring (1) is correctly installed in the bottom vacuum filter cover. Vacuum Filter Element O-Ring
  2. Install the vacuum filter element into the vacuum filter housing. Make sure that the filter element is correctly install in the vacuum filter housing.
  3. Install the bottom vacuum filter cover onto the vacuum filter housing. Do not tighten too much. Vacuum Filter Assemble

Clean Vacuum Pump Silencer

This section only applies to the AON M2+ (CE).

  1. Use a damp lint-free rag to remove contaminants found on the exterior of the vacuum pump silencer (4). Clean Vacuum Pump Silencer
