AON3D Readyprint™ TPU-92A

AON3D Readyprint™ TPU-92A belongs to the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) family of flexible polymers. With a shore hardness of 92A, it can be used to print flexible parts with good thermal, impact, and abrasion resistance. TPU-92A is used in several industries including food, electronics, automotive, and consumer goods. TPU-92A is also food contact certified (EU 10/2011 & FDA 21 CFR for all colors other than black) and complies with RoHS & REACH standards.

Moisture Control

Readyprint™ TPU-92A is factory pre-dried and should be installed in the Filament Dry Storage and Feed System prior to printing to prevent moisture uptake and minimize the impact of moisture on the printing process. In ambient air, TPU is mildly susceptible to moisture uptake. It will generally remain printable, but surface finish and seam quality will suffer after prolonged exposure.

If the filament is hydrated, dry filament at 70ºC for at least 4-6 hours in a convection oven. Ensure drying equipment respects our site requirements to ensure adequate drying performance is achieved. Store filament in air tight bags or containers alongside silica or zeolite desiccant. Be sure to replace desiccant regularly as its moisture capture ability is exhausted. Properly dry the material before adjusting process parameters to obtain reliable and consistent results. Our filament dry storage and feed system setup prevents filament moisture uptake minimizing the impact of moisture on the printing process.

Build Platform Adhesion

Garolite G-10 Build Sheet

TPU-92A prints best on the Garolite G-10 build sheet due to strong adhesion behavior while at recommended bed temperatures and clean removal once the build sheet is cooled down. The G-10 surface is sensitive to Z offset calibration and scratches or scuffs on the surface. For the best results, use a lower first layer speed, a higher the first layer extrusion temperature, and remove the parts gently after prints are complete to minimize damage on the build surface.

CF-PEEK Composite Plate

TPU-92A prints well on the CF-PEEK composite plate and exhibits great adhesion behavior with the added benefit of long-term durability over the PEI build sheet.

PEI Build Sheet

TPU-92A prints well on the PEI build sheet and exhibits great adhesion behavior. The PEI film is sensitive to Z offset calibration and thermal stability of the printer system. For best results, ensure that the machine has reached thermal equilibrium before calibrating.

Post-Processing

Allow all machine components to reach room temperature before proceeding further. Failure to allow components to cool down will result in thermal injury (burns) to personnel.


Troubleshooting & Best Practice

Stretching and Buckling in the Toolhead

Due to the elastic properties of TPU-92A, the filament may stretch or buckle in the extruder. This can lead to clogging or jams, resulting in print failures. In order to maximize print reliability, ensure that fresh hot ends are used for new TPU prints and print speeds do not exceed 40 mm/s.
