Prepare the Machine

  1. Home XYZ.
  2. Lower the Z-axis by 300 mm.
  3. Wait until the build chamber, build platform, and hot ends are at room temperature.
  4. Open the build chamber door.
  5. Push the E-stop button.
  6. Turn the power OFF with the ON/OFF switch found on the front panel of the machine.
  7. Turn the main disconnect switch in the OFF (O) position.

Remove Compressed Air Supply

Wait until all machine components are at room temperature before you continue. Some machine components can be hot if the machine was recently used. Failure to do so can cause injuries.

Compressed Air Fitting

  1. Remove the male connector from the 3/8 in NPT fitting (3) at the back of the machine.

Remove Power Cord

Power Up - Rear Components Power Up - Power Cord

  1. Disconnect power to the machine (2) from the local supply disconnecting device.
  2. Remove the lower rear panel (1). Refer to the Remove Body Panels page.
  3. Fold the power cable into the machine.
  4. Use a cable tie to secure the power cord inside the machine frame.
  5. Install the lower rear panel. Refer to the Remove Body Panels page.

Secure the Axes

  1. Press the cold plenum hood release button located on the right side of the machine.
  2. Open the cold plenum hood.
  3. Manually move the X-axis gantry to the back of the machine.
  4. Manually move the toolhead to each end of the X-axis gantry.
  5. Install the red Velcro® tapes and foam on the XY-axes motion assembly.
    1. Place the foam between the toolhead on the X-axis gantry.
    2. Secure the foam to the X-axis gantry using three red Velcro® tapes.
    3. Secure each cable carrier using the Velcro® tapes as shown in the picture below. Install Velcro® Tape
  6. Close the cold plenum hood.
  7. Close the machine door.

Raise Leveling Feet

  1. Use the wrenches to raise the four machine leveling feet.

Install Packaging

  1. Install the protective film on the screen of the machine.
  2. Install foam behind the screen of the machine.
  3. Install the plastic bag that covers the machine.
  4. Install the plastic wrap around the machine.

Prepare Shipping Crate

Panel Identification

The panels are identified as illustrated below.

Crate - Deployed Ramp

  • Side Panel (6): Must face machine left-side.
  • Front Panel (5) : Must face machine door.
  • Rear Panel (7): Must face machine rear.
  • Side Ramp Panel(2): Hinges at the extremity.
  • Top panel (1): No identification.
  • crate platform (8): Base of the crate.

Prepare Platform & Side Panel Assembly

  1. Place the crate platform (8) onto the floor.
  2. Assemble the ramp by placing the side-ramp panel (2) onto the crate platform (8) hinges.
  3. Position the ramp on the floor.

Load the AON3D Machine Onto Crate Platform

Prior to loading the machine onto the crate platform, verify that all the following tasks have been completed:
• Z-Axis lowered by 300 mm.
• Build plate has been removed.
• Both toolheads are secured to the X-gantry rail.
• X-gantry rail secured to the Y-axis rails at both ends.
• E-stop button is engaged.
• Main power switch engaged to OFF position at rear of machine.
• Build chamber door closed and latch is firmly engaged.
• Four leveling feet are raised.

The left side of the machine must be loaded onto the platform first.

Always use a minimum of three individuals for the procedure that follows. The machine weighs over 523 kg (1154 lbs.) and can cause injury to personnel or damage equipment if control is lost during movement.

  1. Position the machine so the door is oriented towards the left side of the ramp.
  2. Carefully push the machine onto the crate platform (8).
  3. Once the machine is positioned, lower the four leveling feet.

Install the Crate Panels

  1. Put the side panel (6) (opposite to the ramp) into position on the crate platform (8).
  2. Use a hard rubber mallet to install two metal clips where the side panel meets the crate platform (8). Make sure that the two tabs on the metal clips point up when the side panel is installed on the crate platform (8). Metal Clip Tabs Metal Clip Orientation Metal Clip Orientation
  3. Position the front (5) and the rear (7) side panels onto platform against the side panel.
  4. Use a hard rubber mallet to secure both the front (5) and rear (7) side panels to the side panel with six metal clips: three metal clips per side.
  5. Use a hard rubber mallet to secure both the front (5) and rear (7) panels onto the platform using six metal clips: three metal clips per side. ake sure to install the metal clips with two metals tabs facing upwards when securing front (5) and rear (7) panels onto crate platform (8).
  6. Place the two wooden pieces (4) into the U-shaped brackets with the foam oriented toward the machine.
  7. Remove the ramp from the hinges of the crate platform (8).
  8. Install side ramp panel (2) onto the crate platform (8).
  9. Make sure side ramp panel (2) mates properly to the front (5) and rear (7) side panels.
  10. Use a hard rubber mallet to secure side ramp panel (2) to right and front (5) and rear (7) panels with six metal clips: three metal clips per side.
  11. Use a hard rubber mallet to secure side ramp panel (2) onto the crate platform (8) using two metal clips. Make sure to install the metal clips with two metals tabs facing upwards when securing side ramp panel (2) onto crate platform (8).
  12. Lower top panel (1) onto the crate enclosure.
  13. Make sure the top panel (1) mates properly with the right, left, front (5) and rear (7) panels.
  14. Use a hard rubber mallet to secure top panel (1) to the four panels using ten metal clips.

Make sure to install the metal clips with the two metals tabs facing upwards when securing front (5) and rear panels onto the platform.

Final Inspection

  1. Make sure all 32 metal clips are installed and firmly snapped into position.
  2. Secure transparent shipping envelope on the rear panel.
  3. Insert shipping label into shipping envelope. Seal envelope closed.
